You Would be 7 Months Old Today…

Posted on

A couple days ago, while we were out in the front yard, we noticed that beneath the two chairs on the lawn a patch of clover had sprung up. I hadn’t paid much attention to it, nor had Si… but I bent down to look for a four leaf clover all the same for good luck. I have recently been finding shiny new pennies, all heads up, all over the place and I have picked them all up with a smile thinking of my Betty… she was such a treasure, a gift we were truly blessed with and one that I’ll cherish for the rest of my life.

Clover doesn’t grow anywhere else in our yard… just there – betwixt and between the two lawn chairs. As I stepped outside this morning with Si, he mentioned to me that right there, where the clover is growing, Betty happened to have done her first business (yes, it’s what I mean) when we got her home. I laughed a bit, even in the seemingly oddest places we find our Betty’s touch and presence. No mowing or moving those chairs. I told Si we have to care for the cLOVEr now too… and he just said, yes.

You would be 7 months old today my Bubby Girl, and I was trying to think of a way to mark the occasion with something other than my endless sadness so I thought I’d begin where it all started… The moment when I had seen your little face and your coal black splodge of a tail and I knew right then and there that you were my Betty Girl, because it was then that you captured all of our hearts… and it was then that you changed my life forever.

I love you and miss you, my Bubby Girl… You are mine forever. ❤
